Friederike Mohn

Fashion Design AAS

A Worldly Wanderer

"To learn about fashion! To understand, how to move the world away from mindless consumetion. To find ways to nudge the business of fashion towards more sustainable practices." Is why I came to Parsons.
My background is in development economics and next to being mildly idealistic, stubborn, and blessed with the unforgiving attitude to be painfully honest
– I wear my heart on my sleeve.
This is an image of a zero waste dress that was designed by Friederike Mohn in CLO3D design software. The image was taken at night and there is a tracktor with an orange platform in the background, next to some oack trees.
Image: CLO3D allowed me to discover a technique to pattern zero waste dresses in a way that is easy to understand and implement.
Theis is an image of a model wearing an orange zero waste dress who is half way sitting in a john deer gator. The image is taken at night and it is lit up with flood lights.

Rika Paints Pottery

After a lot of flawful process, I added pottery painting to my repertoire of skills. It arose out of chance and I believe, that some of our stories, messages, and letters of love are so well written that they should last for longer than we do.
I will translate your love letters, wedding wishes, special accomplishments, goals, and personal success stories into unique visual compositions, that I paint on pottery for you to never forget.
Image: Relationships are like the weather. And even if it may sound funny, they are rarely only sunny. Moon, clouds, lightning and the sun take turns like seasons for many reasons.

Image: As part of the design process of your uniquely painted piece of pottery, I will embark on a journey with you to learn about the ins and outs of a story you want to capture it in the most meaningful way possible.
Image: I aim to walk through the world seeing humour, hope, and opportunity in every corner. I believe, that simple things make people the happiest and that luxury should be paid with time too.

Bio

Walking on an unpaved path is difficult, unless the paralysing fear of the unknown has been reframed as excitement. My non-linear career trajectory, with seemingly - non-logical choices, is geared towards building bridges between communities to overcome challenges through social, responsible and ethical entrepreneurship.

Creatively, my goal is to give incentives to critically assess and challenge all things 'normal'. My contribution is to discover new ways of doing things and I stubbornly avoid feeling awkward for doing things my way. I will continue to democratise supply chains and to stand up for the underdog.
