Silas Choudhury

Bio
Silas Choudhury is a 2021 graduate of Parsons School of Design and Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, for fashion design and psychology, respectively. As both a designer and researcher, Silas investigates the social and cognitive paradigms of our designed world; why do we wear the clothing that we do? Fundamentally, they want to understand why certain cultural norms are in place, and what effects they may have on us. Their own experience as a freelance model posting online has informed their work towards seeking to normalize feminine bodies on social media.
Silas is a member of the New School for Social Research’s Perception Lab, where they were awarded The New School’s Student Research Award Grant to undertake research on whether and how visual culture, such as fashion, influences our perception of the world and objects around us.
